Past few years have witnessed rise in reproductive health issues. The number of factors that pose challenges in reproductive health have increased by many fold. Thus to identify priority issues of reproductive health, available options of early diagnosis, treatment modalities and prevention strategies with emphasis on providing better reproductive health to all a National Conference on “Reproductive Health Challenges: Issues and Remedies (NCRHC-2015)” on 11-13 September ,2015 was organised  by The IIS University in collaboration with Department of Zoology ,University of Rajasthan, Jaipur and Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur under the auspices of the Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction & Fertility(ISSRF) .The conference aimed to provide a forum  for researchers ,policy makers, programme managers, service providers and NGOs in field of reproductive health.

Beside lamp lighting, formal welcome and address by Dr.N.K.Lohiya, President of ISRRF inaugural session had keynote address by Chief Guest Dr.V.M.Katoch, Former Secretary, Department of Health Research & Former Director General, Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi and  Presidential address Padma Shri Dr.R.R. Chaudhuri ,Adviser ,Department of Health and Family Welfare ,Govt. of NCTD.

Inaugural session was followed by eight technical session spread over three days chaired by luminaries from the field of reproductive health.

Young researchers shared their findings in oral and poster presentations.

On day second there was vibrant culture performance by the students of THE IIS University. Third day concluded with report presentation by Dr. Priyanka Mathur followed by award giving ceremony and vote of thanks.

The conference brought together the array of experts to deliberate on important issues, so as to create awareness in public to combat various reproductive health issues. Thus enriching deliberation proved to be a learning experience for all those participated in the conference.

Prof. Ravi Prakash,  delivered a lecture on “Gene Regulation in Eukaryotes and Molecular Basis of Speciation “on 7 & 8 August 2015 in the Genepact Room.  Post Graduate students and staff members attended the lecture. He explained basic concepts related to gene regulation and how the changes in molecular level leads to speciation

Prof. Sant Prakash, Professor Department of life sciences Dayal Bagh University, Agra was invited to impart hands on training on “Practical exercises on Biodiversity “on 19 October 2013. Research Scholars of Life Science and Post Graduate students and staff members attended the workshop.

Prof. Maheep Bhatnagar , Head, Department of Zoology, MLS University, Udaipur delivered a lecture on “Histochemistry and Immunocytochemistry “on 9 February 2013. Research Scholars of Science Faculty, Post Graduate students and staff members attended the lecture.

Dr. S J S Flora, Dy. Director, DRDE Gwalior, delivered a lecture on “Art of Research Paper writing “on 24 October 2013 in the AV Hall. Research Scholars from Arts, Science and Commerce Faculties; Post Graduate students and staff members attended the lecture. He stressed upon writing papers during research period and also suggested that efforts should be made to send the research work to standard journals.

In recent year, the magnitude of EMR coming out from devices like mobile phones and towers has immensely increased. It has not only created unprecedented environmental pollution but has also accelerated health hazards. Realizing an urgent need to evolve reasonable standards, rules and regulations for the proper use of radiofrequencies for telecom operation a National conference on “Mobile Phones & Electromagnetic Pollution Hazards: Challenges and Solutions” was organized on 20-21 December 2013 by Department of Zoology, The IIS University, Jaipur in collaboration with Indo Global Health Care Research Foundation (IGHCRF), India, to provide platform for scientists, students and social activities from various parts of India to debate on this important issue and create awareness in the public.

The conference was formally inaugurated by lighting lamp and offering prayers to the Almighty. A formal welcome to all the Resource persons, delegates and student participants was extended by Dr. Ashok Gupta, Vice Chancellor of the host institution the IIS University. This was followed by inaugural note by the Chief Guest Dr. R.B. Panwar Vice Chancellor, Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur.

Prof. P.K.Goyal, President of Global Health Care Research Foundation (IGHCRF) in his address acquainted the audience with the aims and objectives of the conference and IGHCRF as well. On this occasion Dr. R.S. Sharma Deputy Director General ICMR, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour. In the end a formal vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. Pradeep Bhatnagar.

The proceedings of the conference covered a wide spectrum of topics which touched upon various dimensions of the core issue at hand.

Besides the technical session, other venues through which the young scientists drawn from various parts of country shared the findings and experience of the research endeavor were poster and oral presentations.

The first day concluded with the vibrant cultural programme prepared by the students of the IIS University. It was nice break, after prolonged academic session which went on throughout the day. Second day concluded with report presentation by Dr. Priyanka Mathur  followed by  award giving ceremony and vote of thanks.

The conference thus brought together a galaxy of experts to deliberate on important issues, so as to create awareness in public to find out safety routes. The conference thus proved to be an enriching experience for all the participants and delegates.

Dr. Nandini Taparia, a research scholar of Department of Zoology  was awarded the first Ph.D. Thesis of the IIS University, titled “Impact of Xenobiotics-Formulations Containing Quinalphos (Organophosphate) and Carbosulfan (Carbamate ) on the Developmental Pattern of Chick Embryo” under the supervision of Dr. Priyanka Mathur and Co-Supervision of Prof. Pradeep Bhatnagar and Dr. Lata Shahani on October 15, 2013

 

 

The Department of Zoology organized a visit to Ganpat Vidyanagar University , Mehsana, Gujarat  to attend a  3 Day DBT  sponsored  National Workshop on “ Hands on Animal Cell Culture Techniques: Application in Cellular Biotech Study”organised by Department .of Pharmaceutical  Biotechnology , S.K. Patil College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research .Postgraduate and Undergraduate honors  students of the department attended the workshop. They attended lectures and practical sessions related to demonstration of basic techniques of Cell culture process.

Zoology Extempore was organized on 18 August 2012 in A.V.Hall. The event was an intative to develop the literary as well as vocal adroits of the participants.20 students from under-graduate and post-graduate programmes participated in the event.The event was judged by Prof. Pradeep Bhatnagar, Dean , Life Sciences, The IIS University and Dr.Shelja K.Juneja ,Head, Department of Environmental Sciences, The IIS University.The results of the event are as follows:
