The Department of Zoology, IIS (deemed to be University) Jaipur organized a Guest Lecture on VIRUSES, VACCINE INNOVATIONS AND NUCLEIC ACID VACCINE for research scholars, students of science faculty and staff members. Lecture was delivered by Dr. Pradip B. Devhare on MARCH 26, 2021 from MANIPAL INSTITUTE OF VIROLOGY. He enriched the students with the knowledge of basic introduction about viruses including virus structure, classification and types of viruses. As vaccination is a powerful method of disease prevention that is relevant to people of all ages and in all countries. He also talked about remarkable progress that has been made with the development of vaccines based on different technological innovations. Conventional vaccine candidates include live attenuated, inactivated, viral vector and recombinant protein-based vaccines were also discussed. He also highlighted the key aspects of nucleic acid-based vaccines followed by updates on nucleic acid vaccines against Covid-19.

An orientation programme for UG (H) and PG students was organized online on 9th September, 2020 by Department of Zoology, IIS (Deemed to be University) Jaipur. The students were briefed about their theory and practical papers, assignments and activity for individual papers. They were also made aware about the examination and marking pattern of the papers. The faculty members of the Department were introduced to the students and students also had an open interaction with them during the session.
On the occasion of Science Day the Department of Zoology, IIS (deemed to be University) Jaipur organized a Guest Lecture on Nanotechnology; Emerging Tools for Biology and Medicine for Research Scholars, students of Science faculty and staff members. Lecture was delivered by Dr. Vinay Sharma, IIT Jammu on 27 February 2021. He enriched the students with the knowledge of nanoparticles and their use in the field of research. He told the students that how they Developed biosensors for healthcare and bioimaging probes for cancer cells using green quantum dot technology. This lecture proved very useful to the researchers and gave the understanding of Nano-Theranostics, and research opportunities in the field of nanoparticles.

The department of Zoology has organized hands on practical training for the Post graduation students and research scholars for demonstration of various features and utilities of Biochemical analyzer. The training was given by Dr. Keerti Sharma and Dr. Neelu Kanwar Rajawat, faculty of Zoology department on 4th March 2021.The training was focused on the use of the instrument for various biochemical and enzymatic assays. Students learnt how to standardize the biochemical analyzer and performed various biochemical tests. Total twenty post graduate and research students participated in the training. It would be helpful for the students in their research and dissertation work.
Department of Zoology, IIS (Deemed to be University) Jaipur, organized a laboratory training on Mice handling which was demonstrated by Dr. Om Prakash Meena, Veterinarian, PGIVER, Jaipur, on 13th February 2021. He trained students on different modes of injection like intravenous, intramuscular, and intraperitoneal in Swiss albino mice. He also explained the method of blood sampling from the tail vein and ear pinna in mice.The scholars were also acquainte with the biowaste disposal disposure procedure of the University. Dr. Lata Shahani, HOD, informed the students about the agrrement signed with Instromedics India Pvt. Ltd., a CPCB certified company, which collects biowaste from the University on regular basis. All the M.Sc. Zoology Final year students, research Scholars and Faculty members of the department attended the session.
