Objective: 

 

Course Objectives: 

This course will enable the students to

  1. Conduct experiments and interpret the results of various haematological parameters.
  2.  Illustrate endocrine glands in mice models.         
  3.  Develop deep learning about histology of various mammalian tissues and correlating it with their functional significance.

The students will-

CO46: Design, conduct and interpret the experiments related to blood.

CO47:  Illustrate anatomy and physiology of endocrine glands in swiss albino mice.

CO48: Perceive      detailed knowledge about histology of     different Tissues of mammals like liver, intestine, stomach, testis, ovary, lung, kidney, pancreas, skin, adrenal, and thyroid gland.

CO49:    Compare and differentiate Estrous cycle of non primates by vaginal smear preparation with menstrual cycle in primates.

        Haematology

  • Estimation of Haemoglobin in the blood sample

  • To study the Bleeding Time & Clotting time of blood
  • Determination of Blood Pressure.
  • Dissection to expose the endocrine glands of mice(Demonstration)
  • Study of Estrous cycle of mice by vaginal smear preparation
  • Histology of Tissues of Mammals: T.S of –Liver, intestine, stomach, testis, ovary, lung, kidney, pancreas, skin, adrenal, thyroid

   Developmental Biology

  • Live gametes under microscope (Sperm motility, Sperm structure, Sperm count & their staining techniques)

Frog

  • Developmental stages of Frog
  • Metamorphic stage of Frog

Chick Embryo

  • Living Chick embryos( 18-21 hours, 24-28 hours, 30-36 hours, 42-48 hours, 72 &96 hours)
  • Window preparation in egg of Hen
  • Whole mount of Chick embryo stage(Demonstration)
