Objective: 

OBJECTIVES- The course objective is to provide students with a basic understanding of:

 

  1. Taxonomic position of various worms and insect pest.
  2. To understand the Morphology, life history, mode of infection and pathogenicity, Prevention and control of insect pests.
  3. To understand Arthropods as vectors of Human diseases and impact that have on human society.
  4. To understand Pisciculture, dairy farming,  Poultry Keeping, Leather industry and Wool industry
  5. To understand use of Pharmaceuticals from animals

Learning outcomes

  1. Students are able to understand ecologicaly important and harmful insects.
  2. Able to recognize ecology and morphology of insect pest.
  3. Able to understand the nature of damage done by insect pest.
  4. Able to know about the methods of control of various insect pests.

Fresh water cultivable fishes and their aquaculture profile: Indian Major Craps (IMC), Exotic Carps (EC), Cat-fishes, Tilapia, Channa etc.  Cultivable species of crustaceans and molluscs: Identification and aquaculture profile: Shrimps, freshwater prawn, crab, lobster, pearl oyster, edible oyster, mussel-clams etc.   

Brackish water aquaculture-Introduction, the tidal range, salinity and the biota.

Basic concepts in dairy science: Semen collection & preservation; artificial insemination; multiple ovulation and embryo transfer
