Course objectives:
This course will enable the students to
1. Examine physiology of Endocrine glands and their hormones.
2. Analyse the role of various endocrine glands in the body.
3. Differentiate the role of hormones in male and female reproduction
4. Systematize the mechanism of hormonal action and feedback inhibition.

● Endocrine System: A coordinating system, Endocrine V/S Nervous system
● Endocrine glands: Introduction, Endocrine gland V/S Exocrine gland
● Hormones: Definition, Classification,Mechanism of Hormone action
● Regulation of hormone secretion.
● Position and Gross anatomy of all endocrine glands

- Endocrine aspects of Hypothalamus: Hypothalamus- Pituitary relationship.
- Pituitary Gland: Development of Pituitary gland ,Histological structure of Pituitary gland
- Anterior Pituitary hormones:GH: Structure, Action, Abnormalities of GH secretion.
- Posterior Pituitary hormones: ADH: Structure, Action, Abnormalities of ADH secretion
- (All other Pituitary Hormones to be taken with respective glands)

● Thyroid Gland: Histological structure, Action of thyroid hormone, Role of TSH, Abnormalities of thyroid gland
● Adrenal Gland: Histological structure, Hormones of Adrenal Cortex and Adrenal medulla with their action and Role of ACTH, Abnormalities of Adrenal cortex and Adrenal medulla hormones.
