Objective: 

 

 

Course Objectives: 

This course will enable the students to –

  • Develop an understanding of the diversity in the animal kingdom.
  • Analyze the role of taxonomy and systematic in animal studies
  • Imbibe the knowledge about the characteristics common to all living organisms and also will be able to distinguish characteristics unique to animals belonging to different taxonomic hierarchy.
  • Compare the origin and evolutionary relationship of different phylum from protozoa to helminths.

Animal Diversity I

The students will –

CO1: Correlate principles of Taxonomy, five kingdom classification and basis of classification

CO2: Illustrate unique characters, ecological role and diversity of protozoa, porifera, coelenterate and helminths

CO3: Distinguish different animals belonging to the phylum from protozoa to Helminthes.

CO4: Critically analyze the importance of types of Coral reefs with special reference to India.
