Objective: 
This course will enable the students to -
1. Develop skills to differentiate between biomolecules based on various qualitative tests.
2. Learn analytical techniques to separate amino acids based on their physical properties.
3. Analyze the effect of temperature on the enzyme activity.

Biochemistry of metabolic processes Practical

CO:79 Perform qualitative tests for functional groups in biomolecules.Separate amino acid mixture by chromatography technique. CO:80 Investigate salivary amylase activity under optimal conditions.

1. Qualitative tests of functional groups in carbohydrates, proteins and lipids.
2. Paper chromatography of amino acids.
3. Action of salivary amylase under optimum conditions.
4. Effect of pH and temperature on the action of salivary amylase.
5. Demonstration of protein separation by SDS-PAGE.
