IMMUNOLOGY THEORY [1]

Paper Code:
25DZOL515A
Credits:
4
Contact Hours:
60.00
Max. Marks:
100.00
Objective:
This course will enable the students to –
1. Appraise the detailed knowledge of our immune system to defend against invading pathogens in a logical fashion.
2. Differentiate and evaluate between innate and acquired immunity; Humoral and cell mediated immunity and the consequences of its failure like autoimmunity, hypersensitivity and immunodeficiencies.
3. Develop an understanding about the role of effector cells and molecules of the immune system as complements and antibodies.

Immunology THEORY

CO:121 Distinguish primary and secondary lymphoid organs and various cells of the Immune system and differentiate between immunogens and antigens.

CO:122 Distinguish the major cellular and

tissue components which comprise the innate and adaptive immune system. compare and                                           contrast between systemic and organ specific autoimmune disease and judge the role of vaccines in artificial and natural immunity.

CO:123 Examine &

interpret various forms of antibody- antigen interactions and correlate the structure of different classes of antibodies with their effector functions.

CO:124 Evaluate the role of MHC in self restriction and could differentiate between endogenous and exogenous antigen presentation and develop the understanding about the centralized role of cytokines in immunity.

CO:125 Summarize the role of complements in innate and adaptive immunity and could assess the various kinds of hypersensitive reactions and their consequences.

CO:126  Contribute  effectively  in course-specific interaction

The approach in teaching: Interactive Lectures, Discussion, Tutorials, Demonstration
