Objective: 
This course will enable the students to –
1. Analyze frog developmental stages on permanent slides, including cleavage, blastula, gastrula, neurula, and tadpole stages.
2. Examine metamorphic changes during the transition of tadpoles into frogs.
3. Investigate developmental stages of chick embryos through window preparation and study placenta sections to understand its structure and function.

The students will be able to CO:103            Analyze                         frog developmental         stages                       on permanent       slides,                     including cleavage,       blastula,      gastrula, neurula, and tadpole stages.

CO:104 Examine metamorphic changes during metamorphosis of tadpoles into frogs.Investigate developmental stages of chick embryo through window preparation.

CO:105 Study placenta sections to understand its structure and function.

CO:106 Prepare a project report summarizing observations on chick embryo development.

CO:107 Demonstrate skills and record the concepts in the form of practical file and reflect on personal learning experiences and experimental outcomes during viva voce.

1. Study of whole mounts and sections of developmental stages of frog through permanent slides:       Cleavage stages, blastula, gastrula, neurula, tail-bud stage , tadpole (external and internal gill stages)
2. Study of whole mounts of developmental stages of chick through permanent slides: Primitive streak (13 and 18 hours), 21, 24, 28, 33, 36, 48, 72, and 96 hours of incubation (Hamilton and Hamburger stages)
3. Window preparation and blastoderm mounting in chick
4. Study of different sections of placenta (photomicrograph/ slides)
5. Project report on chick embryo development
